A ToastMasters meeting
A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants improve their speaking skills in a mutually supportive environment. A typical club meeting runs for 1.5 to 2 hours.
There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success.
Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure.
In every meeting we have 3 to 4 speakers who present self-chosen topics according to their specific level. Every level focuses on different objectives like: speech structure, body language, use of the voice, etc.
All speeches are evaluated afterwards by an experienced speaker. Apart from these oral evaluations, he or she receives written feedback by all members.
We also do a lot of clapping and handshaking, to show our fellow members our appreciation for their efforts, and to prepare them for conferences and events where clapping will be part of the protocol.

Las reuniones ocurren los martes a las 19h, alternando castellano e inglés.

Our meetings take place on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., alternating Spanish and English.
